John advises on a broad range of corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity, venture capital and joint ventures. He is especially experienced with M&A and equity fundraisings in the technology and renewable sectors.

John regularly advises private equity sponsors and financial institutions in relation to acquisitions, disposals and restructurings, with a particular expertise in advising management teams in private equity transactions. He works on all forms of private equity and venture capital financing, from the funding of start-ups to the equity and debt financing of buyouts and all stages in between.

John is the co-head of the Start-Up team and has been a driving force in developing the Start Strong programme which is designed to nurture early stage start-ups as they navigate the many legal and other challenges they can face.

  • The management team in relation to the buyout of Nua Healthcare by iCON Infrastructure.
  • The management team of IPL Plastics Inc in its acquisition by Intelligent Packaging Limited Purchaser Inc, an entity controlled by funds managed by Madison Dearborn Partners, LLC.
  • Avenue Capital on its acquisition of stake in Castlehaven Finance lending platform.
  • Bronfman Family Office in relation to its investment in Shorecal, Ireland’s largest Domino’s pizza franchisee.
  • Adapt Pharma and its shareholders in relation to its US$735 million sale to Emergent BioSolutions, Inc.
  • The shareholders of Barracuda FX in relation to the sale of the entire issued share capital of Barracuda FX to Broadway Technology.
