Building Relationships and ‘Social Capital’ in a Virtual World

In this webinar, Declan Farrell looks at the importance of, and ways of, connecting in remote and hybrid workplaces.

Informal workplace interactions are key to what’s known as social capital - the benefits we get from knowing people. Social capital is also critical to a thriving workplace more broadly, for both employees and organisations. The shift to remote work, however, has changed the nature of social capital in organisations - and not necessarily for the better. But there’s hope. Ensuring that tomorrow’s workplaces are engaging, innovative, creative, and inclusive will depend on creating structures and policies that support social connections at work. – HBR March 2021
