McCann FitzGerald hosts group of Senior Government Officials from China

On Tuesday 28th July, McCann FitzGerald hosted a delegation of 15 senior officials from China. The group were part of the Senior Officials Training Programme (SOTP) organised by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland.

The Chinese officials were in Ireland for six weeks undertaking a professional development and relationship building programme which included briefings from a number of government departments. The 15 officials attended four briefing sessions in McCann FitzGerald’s offices on aviation finance and aircraft leasing, banking and financial services, corporate/agriculture and tax, and investing in Ireland.

Commenting on the visit, Barry Devereux, Managing Partner, McCann FitzGerald, said: “Ireland and China are developing increasingly important economic links and we were delighted to host this delegation of Chinese officials. There are a number of widely publicised reasons why Ireland is an attractive place for China to do business with – cost competitiveness, open economy, easy same day connection to Asia, our highly skilled and educated workforce, and our 12.5% corporate tax rate.

He continued: “I anticipate that this visit by the Chinese government officials will serve to further develop the business relationship between Ireland and China and increase opportunities in terms of future Asian investment in this market.
