Sinéad Martyn | Senior Associate

Sinéad did think about becoming a barrister, but as she had always enjoyed working as part of a team, she ultimately decided to become a solicitor. After studying for an LLB at Trinity College Dublin, her goal was to work in the field of environmental and planning law.

Studying while Training

'McCann FitzGerald also encouraged me in my plan to complete a Masters in Environmental Policy in Cambridge. They were flexible about it; and were open to my gaining relevant experience before I started my training contract.'

'Every firm will give you similar work, but the people are what sets McCann FitzGerald apart.'

Training

Sinéad says that she realised that she had made the right choice from the moment she started her training. 'The thought of starting in McCann FitzGerald was quite intimidating, but I immediately clicked with the other trainees. It was almost as if they picked people who would get on together.'

Today

She works in the Environmental & Planning Group, and says that she really enjoys working in an emerging area of law, and, in particular, advising on new and evolving issues. 'McCann FitzGerald works on high profile transactions and cases, and the quality of service and the advice that we give is first class. There are always new issues and challenges to advise on, which mean that you are never bored. You have opportunity to comprehensively engage with your client and their business, and build an enduring relationship with them.'
