In 1986, we became the first major Irish law firm to establish a permanent presence in London, to serve the growing needs of our clients. Many of the financial institutions, corporates and investors we advise run significant operations in the UK, and our London office has, for four decades, played a central role in meeting their Irish legal needs and those of their advisers.
Our London office advises on Irish law and has long been one of the largest London offices of any Irish law firm. As more clients instruct us from London, we continue to invest in our London team, including new partner appointments, so that we can keep pace with what our clients need next.
What we do
We help banks, investment managers, corporates, lessors and state entities with their most complex cross-border matters:
- Debt Capital Markets and Structured Finance: From multi-billion euro bond programmes to CLO platforms, we advise financial institutions, corporates and state entities on some of the largest and most innovative debt transactions in the market.
- Aviation Finance and Leasing: Ireland is home to over 60% of the world's leased aircraft, and our London office connects that global industry with the market that matters most.
- Sustainable Finance: From Ireland's first sovereign green bond to the $2.75 billion Smurfit WestRock green bond, we are at the forefront of ESG-linked capital markets transactions.
- Corporate and M&A: We regularly advise on cross-border acquisitions, joint ventures and reorganisations.
- Disputes and Investigations: when clients face contentious matters with an Irish dimension, our disputes and white-collar crime practitioners work hand in hand with their London advisers.
Our London office has been led by Hugh Beattie since 2005, he is supported by a team of finance, corporate and disputes lawyers, with the office operating on a fully integrated basis with our Dublin headquarters. For our clients, that means one team, one point of contact and seamless coverage across Ireland and the UK, wherever their business takes them.
