Donncha is a Partner in our Corporate Group and is based in our London office.
Donncha advises Irish and international clients on a broad range of corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and venture capital. He is especially experienced with complex and high-value mergers and acquisitions across a range of sectors, with a particularly strong track record in the energy and digital infrastructure sectors. Donncha also has a strong venture capital practice and regularly advises investors and high‑growth companies on funding rounds, strategic investments and scaling businesses.
Donncha is known for his commercial, solutions‑driven approach and for building long‑term client relationships, combining technical excellence with a pragmatic understanding of client priorities.
Key highlights include advising:
- Equitix and Baltic Cable AB on the acquisition of the 504 MW ‘Greenlink’ electricity interconnector between Great Britain and Ireland from Partners Group.
- Greencoat Renewables on the establishment of its green digital infrastructure platform and its investment in the former Premier Periclase facility in Drogheda — intended as an integrated energy park combining on-site generation, storage and grid services.
- Cordiant Digital Infrastructure in connection with its acquisition of Irish fibre network operator, Speed Fibre Group. Donncha subsequently advised Speed Fibre Group on the acquisition of BT’s Irish wholesale and enterprise business unit.
- ESB Wind Developments on (i) its agreement with the Danish wind energy company, Ørsted, to jointly develop an Irish offshore wind portfolio, and (ii) its acquisition of the 101MW Lettermuckoo Wind Farm.
- MSD International GmbH (MSD) on its acquisition of the assets of WuXi Vaccines Ireland Limited, including a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Dundalk, County Louth.
- Carrier Global Corporation on its investment in Exergyn.
- Greencoat Renewables on (i) numerous renewable project acquisitions from a range of sellers, (ii) the sale of a portfolio comprising six Irish onshore wind assets to Lirion Power, and (iii) its strategic framework agreement with FuturEnergy Ireland for the acquisition of a pipeline of renewable projects, under a forward-purchase arrangement.
- Rub Edibrac Ireland Limited (trading as ATA), the global precision engineering business headquartered in Co. Cavan, and its shareholders on its sale to Harvey Performance Company.
- Gore Street on its acquisition of 51% of Gortawee Battery Storage Limited and on the acquisition of a stake in two further projects: Kilmannock Battery Storage Limited and Porterstown Battery Storage Limited.
- Coillte on the establishment of FuturEnergy Ireland - the joint venture between Coillte and ESB - pursuant to which Coillte transferred its renewable energy development platform to FuturEnergy Ireland.
- European Investment Bank in connection with investments in Priothera and Vivasure Medical Limited and on a confidential venture debt financing under InvestEU (Research, Innovation and Digitalisation window).
- Melior in its acquisition of the entire share capital of Energy Panel Ireland Limited, trading as NRG Panel, a leading Irish installer of solar panels and heat pumps.
- Shareholders of Hazel Shore Limited (including the Ronan Group) on their disposal of a 50% interest in the Codling Bank Wind Farm to EDF Renewables unit.
- A cohort of sophisticated investors on their investments in Hall Power Limited. Hall Power Limited trades as ePower (one of the first movers in the supply and installation of Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Points & Billing Solutions).
