Donal Hamilton | Start Strong Team
Donal is a partner in our Employment, Pensions and Incentives Group with a passion for start-ups and new business. He mentors emerging businesses in Dublin’s incubators and relishes the uncertainty that comes with them.
Tell us a little bit about your career to date?
I took a fairly traditional route into law, studying it in UCD and in the Law Society of Ireland. I decided to specialise in employment law as I love working with people – that’s probably why I enjoy working with start-up founders so much. When I’m not working with start-ups, I tend to focus on business, confidentiality, and IP protection issues involving employees.

What attracts you to the start-up world?
I’ve always been fascinated with new business and the constant changing that comes with making businesses work.
What do you enjoy about working with start-ups?
The enthusiasm, the excitement and the commitment. Every founder I speak to is 100% ‘all in’ on their idea and our job is to help them on their journey to success, and to avoid making too many mistakes.
