McCann FitzGerald announces Legal Apps Hackathon for third-level students

Premier Irish law firm McCann FitzGerald is inviting students from third level institutions to take part in a brand-new competition, the Legal Apps Hackathon, the first-ever legal hackathon to use AI technology. With a prize fund of €2,000 for the winning team, students will have just 24 hours to develop an innovative legal app using the Neota Logic AI software development platform.

Students from all educational backgrounds are invited to participate in the Legal Apps Hackathon with finalists challenged to design and build an intelligent application that gives tailored guidance to users on a complex legal question.

Barry Devereux, Managing Partner of McCann FitzGerald said “We are really excited to announce the Legal Apps Hackathon. This is the first hackathon that will have students using AI technology to develop legal applications

“The future of law is not solely dependent on traditional legal professionals as we need a variety of backgrounds to continue to drive innovation in our profession."

Entries are open to any 3rd level student (no coding experience is required) and will close on February 27th. Students can apply as either a single applicant or in teams of two to four with single applicants grouped into teams based on complimenting backgrounds. Finalists will then work in their teams with the support of McCann FitzGerald Associate or Legal Solution Architect.
